Resumo

O relato descreve o Projeto de Educação na Escola e na Comunidade, que teve início em 2005 por iniciativa da Associação Cairuçu em parceria com o Cenpec. O objetivo do Projeto é aumentar os níveis de aprendizagem de crianças e adolescentes de cinco comunidades periféricas do Município de Parati no Rio de Janeiro: Patrimônio, Ponta Negra, Quilombo Campinho da Independência, Sono e Laranjeiras. A proposta é intervir simultaneamente na escola – sobretudo na formação de professores – e na própria comunidade, principalmente pela ação de seus jovens que, ao mesmo tempo, ampliam seu universo informacional e cultural, promovendo oportunidades de aprendizagem em suas comunidades. O texto ressalta que, em todas as escolas, observou-se a necessidade de ampliar a formação dos professores e organizar com eles uma rotina de trabalho que garantisse as aprendizagens fundamentais em leitura e escrita. Nas comunidades, garantir o direito à educação é um desafio possível, mas, para isso, são fundamentais a iniciativa e o envolvimento das pessoas que ali residem. O relato conclui que é preciso que as comunidades queiram, valorizem e reconheçam como factíveis o acesso ao conhecimento em geral e ao conhecimento escolar – daí a importância de projetos na comunidade e na escola. Este relato apresenta apenas o início do Projeto e o trajeto percorrido até o momento, pois acredita que as comunidades e escolas precisam compreender as prioridades, acompanhando seu desempenho e resultados. Este é o berço que o Projeto está construindo para ancorar a continuidade dessa história.

Abstract

This report describes the Education in the School and the Community Project (Projeto de Educação na Escola e na Comunidade), which began in 2005 through an Associação Cairuçu initiative in partnership with Cenpec. The Project's goal is to increase levels of learning among children and adolescents in five communities surrounding the municipality of Parati in Rio de Janeiro: Patrimônio, Ponta Negra, Quilombo Campinho da Independência, Sono and Laranjeiras. The aim is to simultaneously intervene in the school – especially in teacher training – and in the community itself, mostly through work with young people that, at the same time, expand their informational and cultural worlds, promoting learning opportunities in their communities. The text underscores that the need to expand teacher training and organize a work routine with them that guaranteed fundamental learning in reading and writing was found in all of the schools. In the communities, guaranteeing the right to education is a possible challenge; yet, to do this, the initiative and involvement of the people residing there are fundamental. The report concludes that it is necessary that the communities want, value and recognize access to general and academic knowledge as feasible – hence the importance of projects in the community and the school This report only discusses the start of the Project and the journey taken thus far, since there is a belief that the communities and schools need to understand priorities, monitoring their performance and results. This is the cradle that the Project is building as an anchor to continue this story.
