Participação dos pais na escola: a representação do professores

Resumo

O artigo apresenta pesquisa cujo objetivo foi investigar as representações sociais construídas por professores do ensino fundamental e médio de escolas públicas sobre a participação de pais e mãe nessa instituição. A pesquisa procurou verificar se os professores desejam a participação dos pais na escola, qual o tipo de participação desejada e em que medida se confirma o desinteresse dos pais em relação à escola dos filhos, segundo a visão dos docentes. O estudo revela que não foram encontradas diferenças entre a visão de professores do ensino fundamental e médio sobre a função dos pais na escola. Conclui que os professores não estão preocupados se os pais participam ou não da gestão, se votam ou se prestam serviço voluntário. Parecem resistir às interferências familiares, especialmente ao seu fazer pedagógico, e ainda mais se a interação é iniciada pelos pais.

Abstract

This paper presents research aimed at investigating social representations built by public primary and secondary school teachers regarding the participation of fathers and mothers in this institution. This research seeks to verify whether teachers want parents to take part in the school, what kind of participation is desired and the level of disinterest that parents have in relation to their children's school, from the standpoint of the school faculty. The study shows that differences were not found between the views of primary and secondary school teachers regarding the role of parents at the school. The conclusion is reached that the teachers are not concerned with whether the parents take part or not in school administration, whether they vote, or whether they volunteer. They seem to be resistant to family interference, especially in their educational work, and even more so if the interaction is initiated by the parents.
